Craig Lucas has over 20 years’ experience in infrastructure industries, mostly in the energy sector. He has wide ranging experience in both the public and private sectors in engineering management, innovation and research and development management, including being a business unit Director for a major international utility company.
He has been a Director of various startup businesses in the UK, South America and Africa, and he has also been involved in the management of a large educational charity in Brazil. For 6 years he was a Director of a strategic consulting business in the energy sector, with projects and operations around the world and a strong focus on developing and emerging markets.
Craig is currently Head of Engineering for the UK government’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). As part of this role he manages DECC’s innovation programme which currently funds around 160 projects in the sustainability/cleantech area. His team is also responsible for the coordination of energy industry innovation across government.
Craig read Electrical Engineering at Sheffield University, has an MSc in Electricity Industry Management and Technology from University of Strathclyde, and a postgraduate diploma in Telecommunication Systems from INATEL, Brazil.
